The organizers of the annual South by Southwest music conference have  released the names of the 2nd round of artists scheduled to perform at the event  in Austin (Texas), March 2014. SXSW 2014 announced synth/wave duo MONOKINO,  from Amsterdam (The Netherlands) to be part of next years festival. One of the many highlights is the return of synth pop pioneer Gary Numan. Other notable round two artists include Talib Kweli, the Kooks, Kevin Drew,  Diarrhea Planet, Cerebral Ballzy, EMA, Wye Oak, We Were Promised Jetpacks,  Black Lips and many more. Traditionally SXSW will add last-minute additions to the bill: Prince, The Flaming Lips, Dave Grohl, Iggy Pop, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Justin Timberlake were all added to the roster just a few weeks before the festival. Together with the first round of bands, SXSW has now announced 500 bands. Other Dutch acts selected are: Palmbomen, Dusty Stray, Mozes and the Firstborn and Mister and Mississippi. Monokino recently finished a successful tour through China (with highlights including two shows at the China's biggest popfestival Strawberry in Beijing and Shanghai together with Deerhoof and Travis. Monokino frequently tour North America and have worked together with producer Tony Visconti and singer Kristeen Young. Last year they performed at showcase festival NXNE (Toronto) and Sled Island (Calgary) where they were considered highlight of the festival. This year saw the release of Monokino's critically acclaimed sophomore album “Fake Virtue” (produced by Jacco Gardner).
